| The first official(er) tournament
has been posted. It's pretty dry-boned in terms of a
write-up to go along with it. But be rest-assured. As we
continue to do more tournaments, I will do more
extensive write-ups to go along with them.

The
Microsoft-Bungie War Has Begun - "No laughing matter"
posted 7/24/2008 by TROJAN IMPALA

Bungie president Harold Ryan has denied "laughing" when
Xbox boss Don Mattrick told him that the studio's latest
Halo product would not be shown at E3.
"Keeping things clean, I certainly didn't agree with
the decision to delay our news until sometime after E3,"
Ryan told Eurogamer today. "Bungie is always concerned
first and foremost with our fans. Whenever we are
prevented from exceeding their positive expectations it
is not a laughing matter."
Mattrick, who is in charge of the Xbox 360 business at
Microsoft,
told Eurogamer during E3 that Ryan "just laughed and
he said, 'Boy, just a sign of growth inside the
business, we agree'."
Mattrick went on to say that the new Halo product would
be unveiled at a separate event "another time of the
year" that would "create an opportunity where people can
interact with it". Neither Microsoft or Bungie has
released further details on the new Halo product.

Sounds like some of the gloves are off and there is
lingering tension since the split between Microsoft and
Bungie. However, Microsoft is still Bungie's publisher. |

Site Fact
Sheet
posted 7/23/2008 by TROJAN IMPALA
|
The new site design has been up for about two days
and I've been tracking the site's traffic since July
11th. And since then we've gotten some cool stats that I
didn't know would be possible for the clan site. But,
page views, unique visitors, and traffic keep raising
everyday. Below is a short fact sheet of an 11 day
period starting July 11th until July 22nd.
|
- Page views: 692
- Unique Visitors: 18
- Visits: 87
- Average page views: 7.95
- Average time on site: 8mins 42
sec
- We've had 85 visits from the
United States, 1 from Canada, and 1 from Mexico
- 78 people have gotten to the
site directly by typing in our URL, 8 have found the
site by search engine, and 1 was from a referring
site.
These stats may seem low to some, but I have only
begun tracking the site's traffic and I will continue to
create incentives to remain on the site for a while.

Halo 3
Reclaims Top Xbox LIVE Spot
posted 7/23/2008 by TROJAN IMPALA

With weeks on the most played top 10 Xbox LIVE game
list. Call of Duty 4 has been dethroned. Halo 3 has
claimed its rightful place at the top as the most played
Xbox LIVE game for last week.
Congratulations Halo 3, what about another top spot this
week?

Windows LIVE
Now Free! Xbox LIVE members: "How 'Bout Us"
posted 7/22/2008 by TROJAN IMPALA
|
Sawman, a co-host at the
XBApodcast, and I have gone back and forth on the
issue of charging for the LIVE service. I believe the
service should be free across both platforms, being the
Xbox 360's Xbox LIVE service and Games for Windows'
Windows LIVE service. Now, some of my, and
others, wishes have come to fruition. Starting
immediately, all previous and future games published
with the Games for Windows logo will have a free service
through the Windows LIVE platform.
In the past, Microsoft would charge the standard Gold
subscription fee for pc gamers who wanted to play Halo 2
Vista, Shadowrun for the pc, and other Games for Windows
games. Now you can game freely. No pun intended.
My Take on
the Topic
This is where my opinions kick in. I understand
Microsoft is hard at work on the service. I know it's
not easy creating the necessary tools to keep the Xbox
LIVE and the Windows LIVE service running. But, now
things get tricky. Essentially, now you can play Gears
of War on your pc online for free, but in order to do
that on your Xbox 360 console you have to pay the Gold
subscription fee. This is true for all multiplatform
games that are on both the Xbox 360 console and the PC
through the Games for Windows program.
I see Microsoft eventually making Xbox LIVE free in the
future, but not any time soon. They are adding a Windows
LIVE Marketplace for the PC users so now the only
differences in the services are one is on a console and
one is on a PC where you can normally play online for
free anyways. That is why Microsoft was pressured to
essentially cut off the price tag for PC gamers.
Microsoft is making a megaton off of Marketplace
downloads and advertisements as it is. Now seeing that
both services will be similar in nearly every aspect,
Microsoft will again feel pressure to remove the price
of the Xbox LIVE service.
The Xbox 360 is now at a position to guarantee a lead
with the PS3, we know there's no catching the Wii. The
'360 has now made a profit, and Microsoft could push
Marketplace sales and advertisements further than ever
with the new "Xbox Experience", or new dashboard. The
new dashboard is said to to have easier navigation of
the Marketplace which will likely increase sales some.
Also, with the new dashboard is the chance to increase
advertisement more than ever. They are not restricted to
a few squares where they can place ads. Now, if they
wanted, they could create a whole channel devoted to
advertisements in some fashion.
So, with this added ability to increase sales through
both Marketplaces, Microsoft will likely be rolling in
more cash than they have been, possibly causing a
removal, or cut in Xbox LIVE's pricing.

New(er) Site
Design is Up! Site design "6.1ish"?
posted 7/21/2008 by TROJAN IMPALA

That's right kiddies, all 18 of you, the newer site
design is up. It's just a touch up from the design that
we just had. As of right now there's not that many pages
online but there will be soon.
Also, there are over 18 unique users visiting the site
on an (at least) weekly basis. It's small, but this
means there are more visiting then joining the clan.
What's up? If any of you wish to join the friendliest
and coolest clan on Xbox Live send TROJAN IMPALA a
message over Xbox Live and you'll be added to the
members list shortly.
This time I saved all the previous news and tournament
posts so I could theoretically post them back up. I will
for a fact post the previous tournaments back up but
whether or not I get around to re-posting the older news
posts in the new format is still up to me being lazy in
the next couple of days.
Soon there will be a podcast called the [name not
final] podcast. Again, as of now, we don't have a name
for it. But we will soon!
